Local foreclosure in national spotlight

COLLIER COUNTY, FL – An 87 year old woman is on the brink of foreclosure after her mortgage family made several serious errors. The woman’s case is in the national spotlight.

Margery Gunther, 87, has lived in her Immokalee home for almost 50 years.

“We put a lot of heart into this house,” said Gunther.

After losing her husband and son, and putting her youngest into a nursing home, the house is all she has left.

“It’s part of my family and my life. I took care of my dying husband and my sick son here. I don’t want to move anyplace. Why should I go to a nursing home?” said Gunther.

Gunther is caught up in a foreclosure mess. Her loan was transferred from a mortgage company, to a bank, to a depositor, to a trust, but the handoff was never documented and wasn’t officially recorded until months after the mortgage company filed to foreclose on Gunther.
