Amid Real-Estate Bust, Reality Programs Turn Attention to Foreclosure Deals

Where are the hundreds of thousands of foreclosed homes in the U.S. ending up? On reality television.

This summer and fall, several TV networks are unveiling reality shows about buying foreclosed houses as a way to reinvent the popular “house flipping” formula, which proliferated in cable programming alongside the real-estate boom.

In September, Viacom Inc.’s Spike TV will premiere a new show called “Flip Men” about an entrepreneurial duo living in Salt Lake City who try to make big bucks in the foreclosure market. Later this summer, Bravo’s hit reality show about house-flipper-turned-designer Jeff Lewis, called “Flipping Out,” takes a personal turn in its fifth season when it shows Mr. Lewis wrangling with lenders in a quest to buy a foreclosed house to live in. A&E Television Networks, a joint venture among Walt Disney Co., Hearst Corp. and Comcast Corp.’s NBC Universal, recently tapped a former “Survivor” contestant to star in a new show later this year about flipping houses—some foreclosed—in Houston. And DIY Network, a division of Scripps Networks Interactive Inc., has a show in development about flipping foreclosed houses that could air in 2012.

    FYI – NCUA (NATL CREDIT UNION ASSOC) FILES MASSIVE SUIT AGAINST MULTIPLE ENTITIES — I see the Trust our loan was put into is named yet again in this suit. Interesting as to the huge amounts of $$ the credit unions poured into these investments. Anyway – check it out – multiple mortgage firms named:

    In connection with Viacom – I have emailed them via their “contact us” page and vowed that I – and many like me – will vow to boycott all Viacom programming and affiliates if they move ahead with this tasteless show.

    Well shit!

    I have been fighting in Pro se since filing my case against WELL FARGO, US BANK and MERS in February of last year…the banks attorney’s have been filing nothing but demurrer after demurrer alleging I didn’t have standing to bring about this case because the loan was in my husband’s name (now deceased)…My name on Title but they kept pushing that and that only!

    Finally received the PROBATE order…but, I filed it a few days after the deadline and they filed for a Dismissal…and the Judge granted it….with prejudice!!! I am in shock!!

    Now I need an appeal process and could use some help here???

    Are you a victim of Wells Fargo Bank or any other lender for that matter and their foreclosure fiascoes? Yes they are performing some pretty shady banking and it is time to set the record straight. Enough is enough and I for one am going to fight to save my home and if you are in the middle of being foreclosed on or have been foreclosed on and feel all is lost, I am here to tell you to tie the knot and hang in there because your nightmare is about to end. That’s right together we can end this nightmare and the key word is “TOGETHER” I have spent a countless amount of hours on line and on the telephone doing research on how to put an end to all this craziness. I have called numerous amounts of attorneys and they all say $100-250.00 per hour, some say $750.00 a month and no cap as to how much the total will be. I cannot pay it and I bet you cannot also. This is why I have come up with this and I talked to an attorney that will take on these mortgage companies. Think about it this way, he is willing to take this small amount and the rest he will collect on a contingence bases. Has anyone else found an attorney to do that? If you have, then you got lucky. But most of us have not. Filing fees cost more than this. So if we can get enough people together at least 25 would be a good start, that are in the same boat to pay $1000.00 each we can get the right man on the job and all money will go to this lawyer to save our homes. This is a win situation, believe me I have done the research and it comes down to something as easy as this. A thousand dollars is not much when you think about how much you will be getting out of it.       An advantage of the reality shows is the archiving of each foreclosed home that is flipped.
      This can be used in investigations in finding more of the clouded title homes that have slipped
      through the cracks. The people who are convinced in buying these flipped homes are going
      to be the ones who will end up pissed and defrauded.

      BTW: Bank of American announced back in April a change in their financial structure,
      divesting most of the mortgages from Bank Of Amierica Loan Servicers LP to either
      Bank of America NA, or out sourced to other servicers. Now Aurora has announced the
      same restructuring. Is the beginning of the end and these banks are about to be
      discovered insolvent?

    trying to make a buck on someone’s misfortune and the heartbreak of losing family goods, heirlooms and momentos?

    many times these storage lockers belong to families who have suffered fraudclosure.

    it happened to my family.

    i was there. the whole auction process was rigged from start to finish.
    the villianous, extortionist storage company kept changing the time of the auction and the rules. of participation
    (I’m looking at you, Manhattan Mini-storage)

    Hey this could be fun. We could watch the show, and then research the houses they bought. We can then post in the national media, the clouded titles to the houses. Since the US is a TV nation, maybe that would get some attention.

    They buy houses with clouded titles, flip them and the new owners are the ones who get bit.
    Losing their money and the house. The flippers? Not so much.
    Why should they care, if the title is busted when they have no intentions of keeping the
    questionable property. Kind of like used car dealers selling lemon cars that are hot.

    This is truly disgusting. Just as bad as the flip shows during the boom, by the way. People always need a place to live, yet the houses are kept away from them so that others can make money. Sounds a lot like what is happening now – they don’t care if you have a place to live or not, it’s the money that they are after.

      Good idea. Something like Extreme Home Makeover, but for a down and out family that got booted from their home. The show’s sponsors can fix the home up, have family move back in & sue the banksters for reimbursement/wrongful foreclosure and sue title company for lying about clear title.

      Of course, that show wouldl never happen – just my idea of a good show – lol.

    • Yup! I would watch that show! There are so many who deserve their houses back. Lots to pick from. So many it is insane this crime has happened on such a great scale. It may be an idea to research the titles of these reality flip houses and contact the homeless that owned it and see how far this heartless show goes. Interesting the storage reality shows are taken the same way I have taken it. Heartless, throwing it into the faces of the victims. Definately very tasteless. People should complain more about this. Squeaky wheels get more attention than quiet ones. Squake! or squeak! There are more people than one realizes hurt by this. It is not the few. I have way to many family members that had good businesses and jobs and nice homes and my customers as well. We are the majority, not the minority. It is not a race thing. It is every American family, that is touched one way or another by this. I believe it has gone on a long time, they took advantage of the very poor bleeding them of every dime, then got so errogant it hit the middle class then the wealthy. A small portion of the wealthy hold all the money. American’s needs to fight for the rights of all American’s. I am afraid it is a grand scale scam, and the world order is realer than you think, if you do not believe this. We are at war on our own dirt. Hopefully the banks will have pulled the rug out from under themselves and it will turn around. We have to keep up the fight. It should not matter who you are or what color you are or what the credit score company says, if you qualify for a house and the bank wants to do business with you, they should have to give the same interest rate, without an arm. Without tricks behind the mortgage to steal. If you dont qualify then the bank should not lend on the house. see how much more competitve they would be if they had to be honest. More people would qualify for the house if they had not forced a false housing market to push up false values on homes. More people could afford a home and keep their home if the banks had not created this crime and politicians. We have to stay focused on fighting this fraud. If you can get a PSA audit. None of the PSA’s were transferred, E-mail, send letters and or visit your Attorney Generals. and Senators, and all represenatives. Send them proof of this crime and make squeeky wheels. I have sent the copies of proven fraud assignments to as many as six attorney generals and am still sending. Mass, Florida, Michigan, my own Washington, New York, and more. Show them them it is still ongoing. I am fighting my own modification fraud PRO Se and that is scarry. Dont let the bus run over you. Do something, it is better than nothing.. Look up the statute of limitations in your state under statute of limitations on debt collection and see when the promissory note and the deed of trust are timebarred. You won’t believe your eyes. Some are five to seven years. WA is six years. Timebarred by your state law and can not be collected. This is no joke. Then you can show the judge and the debt collector, they are not a lender. They even state so. The debt is timebarred end of story. No other law is needed. Most mortgages are unsecured and I mean most, and that time bar is oly three years for most. The PSA [Pooling Service Agreement] was not assigned and that makes any UCC law unnecessrry. The contract is void. The deeds of trust are not assigned and they are definately securing each other, They are unsecured debt. Look up case law on timebarred promissory notes.

    Yeah and you don’t know what skeletons are lurking in the title closet either. Tee-hee. Hope it comes back to bite you and you all get ripped off when the title insurance companies have too many claims and fold up without reimbursing you a single penny, greedy flippers.
