Political notebook: Pam Bondi under fire after LPS-related resignations

The forced resignation of two state lawyers who were looking into the foreclosure practices of Jacksonville’s Lender Processing Services has put Attorney General Pam Bondi on the defensive.

The St. Petersburg Times reported that state Rep. Darren Soto, D-Orlando, has asked for documents about the resignations of June Clarkson and Teresa Edwards from the state’s Economics Crimes Division bureau office in Fort Lauderdale. The two attorneys were investigating LPS and a Tampa firm, ProVest. When Bondi became AG, her Economics Crimes Division director, Richard Lawson, asked them about their LPS investigation.
