LPS Local Government Solutions is Streamlining County’s Processing of 425,000 Annual Court Cases

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 14, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — The Local Government Solutions division of Lender Processing Services (LPS), announced today it has completed the initial phase of the installation of its advanced criminal court management technology, ShowCase®, in the Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptroller’s Office.

The Palm Beach County implementation represents the largest installation of ShowCase® to date. Palm Beach, the 29th most populous county in the U.S. with nearly 1.3 million residents, will use ShowCase® to handle the approximately 425,000 criminal court cases the county processes each year.

ShowCase® software turns paper documents into electronic images and provides workflow management, calendaring, indexing and search capabilities for the court. ShowCase provides users electronic filing capabilities and allows the clerk’s office to scan and electronically save all documents, including filings, pleadings, dispositions, citations and invoices with more functionality than other technologies.

“We’re pleased to be able to assist a large county court system, like Palm Beach County’s, with automation that not only speeds up processes but creates efficiencies that reduce costs and allows the redeployment of employees to more mission-critical duties,” said Manny Ramos, president of LPS Aptitude Solutions, which is part of LPS Local Government Solutions. “LPS is committed to streamlining government and to helping county courts reduce increasing case backlogs.”

ShowCase® can be integrated with other technologies offered by LPS Local Government Solutions for property appraisers, tax collectors, county recorders and tax deed offices. The local government division has installed municipal software in about 250 counties across the U.S., including 30 in Florida.

In Palm Beach County, ShowCase® will link with Florida state criminal reporting systems and benefit other members of the criminal justice community, including court administration, sheriff’s offices, public defender offices, state attorney offices and other justice partners, including attorneys.

ShowCase® supports the acceptance of documents in paper or electronic form, in compliance with a recent state electronic filing mandate.

Whether documents are received in paper or electronic form, Showcase automatically redacts sensitive information, such as Social Security and driver’s license numbers, and reduces manual data entry through its seamless interface with Intellidact® software from Computing System Innovations. ShowCase® assists clerks with case management and reports a more accurate and timely criminal history to state and national law enforcement agencies, driver’s license divisions and collections agencies.

“This dynamic and innovative technology will make us more efficient with public resources and, more importantly, it will help us administer government and justice in a more streamlined, economical way,” said Sharon Bock, Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptroller.

The civil phase of the ShowCase® implementation is scheduled to begin later this year.

How can I find out if my County Clerk is using LPS software? Government Solutions? Aptitude Solutions? Pretty confusing. Coos County Clerk REF– USES to authenticate documents presented for recording. The very first word of her job dutes listed in the Oregon Revised Statutes ORS 205 is ‘AUTHENTICATE’ yet she absolutely insists it is not her job! Has anybody been successful in getting a Writ of Mandamus from a judge ordering their county clerk to DO HER JOB and authenticate before recording?

  2. Jim Goeke says:

If LPS can electronically update paper Court Records in Palm Beach County with their latest technology, then we don’t need public employees to verify and certify paper information.

Hey, there is a company who has been electronically updating property records since 1995. They have over 60 million electronic property records on file in Reston Virginia!

We could eliminate Clerks of Court entirely if we let the Mortgage Electronic Restistration System have legal standing and legitimacy. No more double dipping civil servants, no more deadbeat homeowners, no more need for title insurance if we are on the honor system.

No more Due Process, No more Property Rights, and No more Rules of Law to follow.

Where is Jimmy Stewart when you need him to get us out of PottersVille? I don’t believe that he is in Tallahassee!
