Modesto locksmith’s widow files claim, says deputies didn’t protect him

MODESTO — Authorities should have done more to protect a locksmith from a distraught, armed homeowner who gunned down the man and a deputy sheriff, the locksmith’s widow says in a wrongful death claim against Stanislaus County.

Before they tried to carry out the April eviction, deputies were warned that the homeowner had weapons, the claim says, contradicting Sheriff Adam Christianson’s statements since that the men walked into an ambush with no idea that danger lurked inside.

Also, locksmith Glendon Engert paused while disabling the lock on a metal security door when he heard something inside, but deputies directed him to keep drilling, the claim says.

“Mr. Engert was lulled into a false sense of security,” the document reads.

Moments later, Engert, 35, and deputy Bob Paris, 53, were killed by armor-piercing bullets from an assault rifle fired through the screen door. Deputy Mike Glinskas, 51, was not hit and was honored for bravery last month.

Rest here…

It’s interesting to me to hear how the commanding officer(sheriff) complains that he has not enough infrastructure support as a sheriff command bus drives by. Not too mention, at a miniumum I counted 20 sheriff vehicles. How is this not enough support to his staff? All this and they couldn’t just tell the guy in the standoff that they would talk to the bank and try to work something out? Pure negotiation tactics to get this guy out of his home should have been used and no one would have lost their life! It is ridiculous that the sheriff stands there and states “They have no idea why this incident has occurred!” For god sakes you are serving the homeowner an eviction! For god sakes the homeowner is protecting their rights and property! Should we all just walk away like sheeple? What is very unfortunate is that this sheriff is using this tragedy as a reason to garner more funds for his already overinflated law enforcement entity! This homeowner probably had encountered multiple 3rd party threats, civil rights violations and fear prior to this tragedy. However, we only get to hear the innocent breaking and entering which claims innocent lives, even though multiple others had already violated this homeowners civil rights! Revolution on the horizon! People can only take so much!

I was asked to go get boxes sand came back and crusted boxes were locked on truck. Total meltdown no where to go! The bankers representatives encourage the lawlessness! Going to the sheriff’s or city police even while breaking the late they will not help you is a civil matter city council members refuse to get involved they are aalready fighting for funds thro will not rock the boat! Even a call from the governors office won’t work! Reminders you have been made to look deplorable on paper and they have better attorneys and a full staff and will come up with documentrd letters that you have never seen before your word against numerous persons!!! You will automatically lose!

in my neighbor’s fraudulent eviction the San Diego Sheriff’s brought the “locksmith” but in this case he was also the investor from third parties properties in Alpine, Ca. the homeowners were furious because they had received a letter from B of A offering the “loan Mod”…the Sheriff’s were very friendly with Mr. Hlem the investor/locksmith and to our surprised instead of the sheriff’s posting the eviction notice in front of the door …the CA BROKER Patty from coldwell banker showed up to place the for sale sign AD with the locksmith ad too as an investor on the front door with a new lock and all the homeowners furniture inside the house. the sheriff’s were rude and intimidating and used physical forced when it was no need. the homeowner felt so afraid that he called 911 but did not offer any help since the sheriff’s were there already! the homeowner felt so humiliated and scared but most of all indignation of how his home was stolen with forged deeds and signatures but since the authorities are so corrupt what can we expect?. in this case the investor/locksmith (earns 5K per new lock door and 10k for foreclosures)had gone to the home previously (10 times)trying to get inside to take pictures and yelling at them in front of the complex so everybody could hear, using scare tactic like a bully because he knew about the mortgage fraud, he was very unethical and unprofessional but the Fam Valadez looked for therapy in our church and never had any ideas of killing anyone on the contrary they resign themselves to loose the property because an attorney is too expensive to hire and the legal department in the court house seem to be corrupted too, lot’s of frustration when the authorities are not looking for our welfare. this is the business conduct we see now in REAL ESTATE-the money store! another neighbor is in another position, she is the one telling the homeowners to get out, she takes stuff from empty homes out of rage because another agent took her deal, she rather destroys the property!.crazy isn’t?..she hires the locksmith usually the investor with her, she is buying all homes with help of her “CA RE Brokers-agents bank loan-escrow-title officers” friends”…now she owns 5 house around the our block! these are our “new age investors” since they know how to handle libor % they paid their homes with in three years instead of the 30years! so they have a lot of equity to play with…nice deal!. I hope this widow gets a reasonably settlement into the millions because if the sheriffs knew the level of risk and did not disclose this data to him then the sheriffs must be liable for endangering an innocent good working american trying to do a job to put food on the table like the rest of us. Our prayers for Mr. Engert -widow and family.

@ Pamela Edwarda and everybody else. Let’s see now….there’s no media coverage of the current distraught of homeowner’s now, is there? No one out there is aware of the massive foreclosures going on or the fraud perpetrated or the destruction of the middle class, is there? A locksmith that takes a job to drill out a security lock on a pending foreclosed home HAS to know what is goin on out there; has to know the huge risk of doing such a job. Let’s all get a grip on reality! It’s always a tragedy when death occurs but for the ‘love of money’ for those who put their own life in danger for the almighty dollar, well, here you have the end result. Oh and don’t count on the police for protection of any kind for the people….they answer only to the banks who now control their pension funds. The only “innocents” in this game are the ones being forclosed on. You should watch the video of Matt Weidner & April Charney from the meeting/101 held in Sarasota, FL. There’s where you will find who the innocents really are!
