Bank of America lets go nearly 500 local contractors who worked in the Independent Foreclosure Review program
TAMPA — Nearly 500 local contractors who reviewed Bank of America foreclosures are out of a job after regulators and banks announced an $8.5 billion settlement, the bank confirmed Tuesday.
The contractors were hired about a year ago as part of the Independent Foreclosure Review, in which homeowners could seek a second opinion about whether their home was foreclosed in error.
The settlement announced Monday with 10 banks, including Bank of America, replaces the review with direct payments to 3.8 million people who were foreclosed on in 2009 and 2010.

No, they won’t go back to their offices at BOA. Someone saw a guy crying as he was escorted back in to collect his belongings the next day after the layoffs. i am a temp there as well – for now. BOA will just call a new crop of desperate people in when they need them.

When I tried to File on line it wouldn’t let me. So I called. the Indepentent Review .The rep told me they had to start a file and send me a hard copy form to fill out.She told me The reason it wouldn’t work on line was because my lendor had’t sent my info to them?? So then when I called back after not receiving my forms. I spoke to a rep who said he couldn’t tell me what date it was sent out and couldn’t give me any info, because he would have to forward my call to the BoA team. Amazing when he forwarded the call the person who answered the call was him. I ask for the names of everyone I talk to. so I said “Hello “Clinton” , this is Cheryl from Mi we just spoke”. He stumbled and stammered. I said so you’re on the BoA team? Now can you give me the info I needed? I also asked him if he took the same classes that the BoA reps took on how to confuse and frustrate customers? He chuckled nervously and put me on hold. Then of course the phone disconnected. When I called back I spoke to a woman and I could hear “Clinton” in the back ground speaking on the phone. I asked the woman to say Hello for me to “Clinton”.
