Foreclosure settlement puts hundreds of Charlotte temps out of work

More than 200 Charlotte workers are out of a job as a result of the banking industry foreclosure settlement announced this week.

Promontory Financial Group says it has ceased employing thousands of temporary legal and finance professionals across the country. More than 200 workers in Charlotte were told this week they were no longer needed, company spokeswoman Debra Cope tells the Charlotte Business Journal.

Promontory is one of several large consulting and outsourcing firms that big banks contracted with to review foreclosure cases that may have been mishandled. Promontory’s clients include Charlotte-based Bank of America, Wells Fargo & Co. and PNC Financial Services Group.

“As a result of the termination in independent review, people were let go,” Cope says.
