‘Wall St.’ flees NY for tax-free Fla.
The city’s hedge-fund executives are flying south — and it’s not for vacation.
An increasing number of financial firms, especially private equity and hedge funds, are fed up with New York’s sky-high city and state tax rates and are relocating to the business-friendly criminal-friendly climate in Florida’s Palm Beach County.
And they’re being welcomed with open arms — officials in Palm Beach recently opened an entire office dedicated to luring finance hot shots down south.
“Florida is a state of choice,” said Thalius Hecksher, global development chief for Apex Fund Services, who moved many of his operations to Palm Beach. “It’s organically grown. There’s no need to drag people down here. It’s a zero-income-tax jurisdiction.”
There are other perks, too — like the fact that it was 77 degrees and sunny there yesterday.
“And the lifestyle!” Hecksher added.
Rest here…

Um….the closer they are to the Everglades…pythons are passing the word to other pythons that their supply of dinner is coming soon…And Bobbi…..I had to laugh at your last comment…The governor will spout at how he is bringing JOBS to Florida….crime follows crime…what I have read of the PalmBeach courts…need I say more?
@ Marilyn – nice to hear from you! You may get a laugh out of this as well. I have been asked to participate in a ’round table’ discussion on Wednesday evening in Tampa on Governor Scott. Yep, all three sides (Repubs, Dems & Conservs), will sit to discuss the pros and cons of what our governor is and has done and prospects of ‘other’ candidates which may take the lead at the next election. It is being done by a market research company and needless to say, I am THRILLED! I have been described as a ‘firecracker’ & I plan to fire away!
Just what we need down here, more freakin’ crimminals. But of course, the politicians will welcome them with open arms. They are bringing all that dirty money with them to line their own pockets. And the governor will spout at how he’s bringing jobs to Florida!!!
Well, I guess they’d have hurricanes in either state now. At least our houses here are built to hurricane codes!
Running like the true dogs that they are,no disrespect meant for real dogs.
