Nate,

Once upon a time, in a land called Florida, a long, long, long time ago (2005) a law enforcement official in the Office of Statewide Intelligence wrote a document entitled "Mortgage Fraud Assessment".

This document might enlighten you to the following, all of which are crimes committed by industry insiders which have lead to 80-90% of the foreclosures occurring today and this stands as a rebuke to your statement, "Property owners who overpay are to blame".

Appraisal Fraud
Air Loans
Equity Skimming
Foreclosure Fraud
Bait and Switch Fraud
Application Alterations
Fake and forged deeds
Mortgage Assignment Fraud
Notary and Signature Witness Fraud
Over the top increase in Suspicious Activity Reports (SARS) filed to federal regulatory agencies which monitor mortgage fraud.
etc
etc
etc

What is the China Acquisition Corp anyway? The name makes it sound like the totalitarian communist government of China owns a foreclosure mill, unless Stern used an existing shell corporation to go public. If that's the case, investors know how well that usually turns out (about as well as investing in CDO's without government bailouts). It'll be interesting to get a glimpse via the reporting obligations into the engine powering the mills. In any event since it's not a law firm -- only lawyers can own law firms; they can't be public -- a lot of their work should be subject to discovery.

These "banks" -- or, more accurately, bankers -- should have been, and should be, treated by the US Treasury like they treat everybody else; shown the door. Then smarter bankers would have purchased the notes for a pittance, refi'd with much lower principal, and we'd be on our way to real recovery. The only thing we're heading to now is a colossal economic collapse, and more bankers and lawyers whining for more tax funds to pay for bigger bonuses.

He hasn't bilked property owners. Property owners that overpay are to blame. It's time that Americans take responsibility for their lack of education and intelligence. If you want a hand out, go sit on the white house steps or move to a socalist cuntry!
