1. In what universe were Freddie and Fannie ever ‘charitable institutions?’

2. Fannie/Freddie were never institutions focused on ‘the low income people they intend to help.’ Their goal was to provide a place for banks to place mortgages over their lifespan, freeing the banks to make more loans. Because there was an implicit government guarantee of Fannie/Freddie, the loans they purchased had to meet stricter underwriting guidelines – guidelines that excluded riskier loans like sub-prime.

I agree with the rest of the post, though, including the comments regarding the newt.

Alonzo, I hate to burst your bubble about Ron Paul but, I have read that he is a member of the John Birch Society which was founded by the Freemasons and the Rockefellers…The John Birch Society is said to have been put in place to reign in all of the NWO dissenters who hate communism…He sounds almost to good to be true and I have found out by past experience that the freemasons consider lying to acheive their goals, honorable. I don’t trust any of the politicians from either party..We can’t forget the fact that these politicians do not sign contracts so why should we believe them? Have any of them in either party told us the truth yet? Things get worse and worse with every single one of them..They are a cabal of traitors and a party of one…. Everyone should do their own homework about these candidates and do not believe a word they say because these politicians from both parties are all proven liars, deceivers and traitors. Tell Ron Paul to sign a contract that he will uphold the U.S. Constitution, the U.S. BILL OF RIGHTS, our property laws and the laws of the land, abolish the FED and issue our own currency and then maybe I will trust him…We need a real american patriot as a third party candidate…no more secret society members allowed…and that includes at the Treasury and the appointments made by the President…Anyone hear that John Corzine of MF GLOBAL was talked about being the next appointed Treasury Secretary?….The fascism has to stop…

Proto-fascist entity…now that is the truth…The fact that they were half private and half Government Sponsored Enterprise is the definition of FASCISM….Newt got caught with his hands in the cookie jar and the chocolate and crumbs all over his face……New Gingrich is a fascist just like the so called GSE’s and should never receive another dime of taxpayer money for a pension or otherwise…The last thing we need is another fascist as President of the United States…

I think you are totally blaming Newt on this…when in fact it was the democrats that pushed Fannie and Freddie. Starting in Carters adminstration and put into high gear in Clintons administration, disguised to push homes for everyone. Johnson at the time head of Fannie and Freddie. Democrats got rich off of these programs. J. Johnson, Franklin Raines and many more. This crisis was ignored by Greenspan, Rubin, Summers et all, in the late 90’s. Yes, these government entities are facist in nature and that is what the democrat party is today.
