@Katheryn - Could not have said it better myself. Keep your guns (and your margarita's) as you will no doubt probably be needing them in the not so far future. Did anyone stop to think that stripping us of our rights to bear arms is just a duplicate of what happened with Hitler? The point is to drive the people into total agreement that the gov't knows better than we! I too sometimes wonder if my sanity is being challenged and all the while my children are asking me 'okay mom, we see your point, but what can we do?'. I really thought that I had raised intelligent children and imposed moral incentives. The moral incentives are still there, tis true, but I feel as thought they have become 'numb' to use their brains. They scoff at me when I tell them that our monetary system is going to collapse, that our world status as the standard of the dollar is going to ruin, and that all those dollars that they worship to bring them happiness will ultimately bring them to total poverty and destruction. I know it's coming and like you, at my age, I probably won't feel the worse of it as will my children and grandchildren. In my heart, I know I am sane as well and maybe just that thought is that driving force that keeps me from going over the edge!

Unfortunately Ken, I don't think "insisting" will get us, the 90 something percent, anywhere or anything. "The Banks' Profits" are an elaborate ponzi scheme that has sucked us and our government funded by OUR taxes dry while lining the pockets and off shore accounts of those already in power and with most of the money. Soon, protests by the peasants will be met with death squads and drones. At my age I may not be around to see the worst of it, but I feel very sadened for those who will still be around. For now I dream of Belize and keep the margarita fountain flowing!

Absolutely, it's going to take an effort from the people, to that end we need to insist on improvements that our incapable leaders will not persue unless compelled to do so. This land belongs to you and me.
Mantor's screeds age like a fine wine, huge mouth feel, nearly incoherent but right on the mark with hints of vanilla, oak and chocolate:

"But, we are still creating debt that cannot be paid back because paying it back hurts bank profits. Few people seem to understand exactly how insanely lunatic the very notion is."

A New Ruralist Community on the Historic Belize River

"Surrounded by the verdant tropical rainforests, the majestic Maya Mountains and the fertile Belize River Valley, Carmelita Gardens is ideally situated for a new Agrarian Urbanism community. The principles of Agrarian Urbanism are resonating with people looking for an alternative to the rat race. The ability to independently generate electricity from the sun and produce a sustainable amount of food from a garden at affordable prices is finally here. For years the intrepid few have lived off-the-grid in remote locations, but now it is a mainstream reality. Inspired by the increasing demand for energy independence, food security and community stability, Carmelita Gardens is designed to combine new technologies, traditional gardening and classical design into a cohesive community of independent homes."

George, I love your posts because you write superbly and you let us know that there are others out there that really fee it and GET IT. Sometimes I feel like I'm the one that must be crazy but in my heart (and head) I know I am sane. I might feel better, perhaps, if I was less sane.

I agree with George completely that we are on a path of destruction of no return. Greed and no belief in basic right from wrong has created a society of empty zombies in constant search of who we can cheat to make more more and more money. We have slowly been desensitized to all the craziness that is going on all around us. It is so counterintuitive that as connected as we are by technology there is such a major and total disconnect. Our children are feeling it as well as the high rate of suicide by our military men and women who realize their efforts and heroism is not for the purpose for which they made the choice to serve. Who of us would ever believe 20 years ago that kindergartners, movie theater patrons, shoppers, church members, anyone anywhere could be slaughtered while simply doing every day things. Guns aren't the problem...society is just getting sicker and darker. I know many won't agree with that statement but I believe it is truth. Taking away guns from everyone won't make society any safer. This is a delusional grasping of hope. A course of action that our leaders tell us will make things all better and the bad and crazies will not have the ability to do bad things. If I believed this would really make us safer, I'd be right there at the front of the "take the guns away" line. However, for now I prefer and feel safer with the ability to keep my guns. In addition, I'll grab my margarita and head for Belize:-)
