					<description><![CDATA[@Shelley:  very good article above.  Throughout our 8 year ordeal with CitiMortgage, they tried numerous times to get us to agree to a modification.  But, Citi would not put anything they said or offered in writing.  Never agree to anything that is not in a contract.  FYI:  Short Sale will stay on your credit report for 15 years and harms the credit score worse than a reported bankruptcy.  So if anyone can settle a disputed mortgage issue, it is imperative that the homeowner makes sure that their mortgage will be reported as paid in full or satisfied.  Also, Citi strong armed us and tried to make us short sale our home.  They almost got it!  Thank god I didn&#039;t buckle.  When they would not put their offer in writing, I Refused anything and everything.
