Man gets probation for setting fire to home in preforeclosure

WOODSTOCK – A Cary man will serve two years of probation after he admitted to damaging his preforeclosed home by setting it on fire, leaving it uninhabitable.

Daniel B. Knabusch, 33, pleaded guilty in court Wednesday to an amended charge of criminal damage to property, a Class 4 felony. The felony is punishable by one to three years in prison and one year of mandatory supervised release.

Knabusch, who was released from custody Wednesday morning, also will pay a $500 fine and serve 128 days in McHenry County Jail. His time was considered served after credit was given for the 64 days he was in custody. An additional 60 days of jail time was stayed pending further action of the court.
