Record 4,300 Foreclosures Per Day in Greece During 2016

A huge increase in foreclosure orders against state’s debtors has been recorded for 2016 in Greece. During January – April, the tax authorities ’emptied’ the bank accounts of 428,465 debtors.

According to information, adding May’s foreclosures, the total number exceeds 500,000. That means that within 100 working days, account foreclosures increased by about 100,000, while during the same period in 2015 the number was 333,776.

According to data emerged from Tax collection department of General Secretariat for Public Revenue and revealed by “business stories”, tax offices proceed to about 4,300 foreclosures per day, while every month more than 100,000 foreclosures of debtors’ bank are recorded.
