Anti-Foreclosure Campaign Enters New Stage in South Florida
On Thursday, January 13th, foreclosure victims and activists combined with anti-capitalist campaigners as part of a new focus on anti-bank street action in South Florida. Meeting in downtown Fort Lauderdale at a Food Not Bombs free sharing, about 25 demonstrators marched through Fort Lauderdale, stopping in front of buildings for three of the world’s largest corporate criminal empires: Wells Fargo, Citigroup, and Bank of America, to shout anti-bank chants and encourage a general boycott against the megabanks.
The march ended at the Broward County Courthouse, where many a foreclosure has been unjustly ruled on in the past few years. This was event was a great start for area foreclosure campaigners, who in the past have mostly focused on courtroom struggles and victim advocacy. With rising public awareness of the fraudulent nature of the foreclosure crisis and an ever-growing sea of Americans denied justice, anti-foreclosure activists are now planning an ongoing series of demonstrations and outreach in order to demand the prosecution of our financial sector & government’s corrupt debt practices, as well as the restoration of rights to citizens victimized by these rich corporate machinations.
Pioneer anti-foreclosure activists with Foreclosure Hamlet have been helping homeowners fight greedy banks in the courts and are now encouraging those denied justice to take their grievances to the streets. In light of the lack of interest in this crisis shown by our elected officials, the responsibility falls to those that hold the real power in America, the people, to hold financial criminals to account.
This event was also one of the first co-organized by One Struggle South Florida, which seeks to unite radical, progressive, and social justice causes in South Florida into a mass-movement that this area has been lacking for so very long. This event was a smashing success in this regard as people with a variety of political backgrounds and interests banded together against a common foe: greedy, oppressive financial criminals.
Foreclosure activists’ next event will be at a Foreclosure Prevention Seminar at The Wellington Community Center in Palm Beach County on January 29th, where representatives for criminal banksters will be continuing to peddle their lies to desperate homeowners under the pretense of “assistance.” Any and all victims of corporate debt in Dade, Broward, West Palm, and Lee Counties are encouraged to contact foreclosurehamlet.org or onestrugglesouthflorida.wordpress.com to join this burgeoning popular resistance movement.

Yes, I agree with John: we need NATIONAL WIDE ANTI-FRAUD peaceful DEMONSTRATION! It is started already armed violations in Arizona: federal Judge killed, many others… This is not right! We can do better without such extreme! We need defense just our RIGHTS and only God will do the rest!
IMHO, Nothing about the bank oligarchy, government corrution, tainted judiciary or socialist redistribution of wealth is Capitalism. What is the core of Capitalism is the preservation and protection of individual property rights. Don’t let them divide us by continuing to misquide us!!!!
Our fight is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and make sure our Capitalist system thrives!
I agree with Diana. These idiot “anti-capitalists” don’t even realize that in A TRUE CAPITALISTIC SOCIETY, the (too big to fail) banks would have been ALLOWED to fail. THAT is true capitalism! These “anti capitalism” protestors are really just “PRO SOCIALISM” protestors!! I have news for you, WE ALREADY LIVE IN A SOCIALISTIC SOCIETY!! What the hell are you clowns protesting for?!?! The government advocates socialism!! Are you protesting because you want them to become MORE socialist?? Read a book, you idiots!! I’m all for the anti-fraud protestors, though. They RULE!!
Many, many years ago I started a van club. While trying to recruit I contacted the local radio stations, told them it was a non profit organization, and asked if they’d give out info on the meetings. They all did. I’m in Ohio, but I think it’s works this way everywhere. Using only this tool and word of mouth, the Van club grew to be the larges van club in the US within 2 years, the Miami Valley Street Vans and it later broke up into 5 separate clubs.
Hint! Hint! Hint!
It may be warm down there, but outdoor demonstrations up here don’t do well when you’re freezing in sub zero weather… maybe a good time to start thinking NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION DAY? Come warmer weather…
