List of locals affected by apparent mortgage fraud released
GREENSBORO — Guilford County Register of Deeds Jeff Thigpen today announced that his investigation into apparent mortgage fraud has turned up more than 4,500 documents that appear to have been forged or improperly altered.
Thigpen made public the names and addresses of thousands of Guilford County residents whose mortgage and loan documents appear to have been affected.
The total value of the loan documents Thigpen identified as “suspicious” is estimated at more than $624 million.

has taken a stand against the fraud that has been committed violating property law.
in a different era, brave young men stood up against segregation in Greenboro ,NC and refused to leave a lunch counter at woolworth’s.
the old woolworth’s has now been made into a museum for civil rights.

“the borrowers who deliberately lied to obtain financing” Believe me, our ‘friendly citizen supporting Government’ is looking all over this. There is still a relentless class oriented push to penalize the lower hanging fruit – the borrower. Executives at Fannie Mae are relentlessly punishing borrowers, to cover their own asses.
I don’t know of any who “deliberately lied” other then true scam artists who were into flipping, gentrification or perhaps working for the benefit of Banks, Realtors, Title Companies and so on. When this bubble was in full inflation everyone was lying. I don’t like your comment – it implies punishment is needed for the victims, which just continues the insanity.

I have been fighting over two 1/2 years-hoping to save my home and clear this up before my 84 yr old Mother

The Fort Lauderdale-based Ben-Ezra & Katz law firm gave layoff notices today to 146 employees as it moves toward shutting down its foreclosure operations, a spokesman for the company confirmed. An additional 8 employees will be laid off from the firm’s title company.
The firm will remain open as a boutique real estate firm.
Earlier this year, the firm had nearly 600 employees, but has been decimated following the loss of foreclosure business from federal mortgage backer Fannie Mae. Fannie Mae fired the firm in February citing “execution issues” in foreclosure proceedings.
The shutdown is the second collapse of a South Florida foreclosure law firm, following the March 31 closing of the Law Offices of David J. Stern.
A spokesman for Ben-Ezra & Katz said the firm intends to make an orderly transfer of all of its files to new foreclosure attorneys.
Chase Home Finance, which also cut ties with Ben-Ezra, was ordered by a judge earlier this month to pay a $4 million surety bond to get its foreclosure cases back. Ben-Ezra & Katz says Chase owes it $6.2 million in legal fees.
I have been engaged with these lying fraudsters “Ben-Ezra&Katz” since Oct 2008. And along with a smoking hot DOCX assignment of mortgage”filed 8 months after the foreclosure suit was filed” the original note “that I have not seen” was found a few months after the suit that had a lost note count attached. It took almost a year “after they dropped lost note count” for this to arrive at the court house.
The judge was wise enough to notice that the note was not dated as to transfer. He mentioned the problems of late and said he wanted someone to testify as to the date of transfer, and advised the attorney that they may be in trouble if it was transferred after the filing of the suit.
So in a way I am sorry that they have pulled out completely. They were the devil I knew, and I had them on so much wrong doing.
I imagine that another law firm will be assigned and pick it up. But maybe not.
I guess my question is what happens now? For some reason I don’t think they are going to send out the notices required by law telling the courts and defendants that they are withdrawing from the suit.
I cain’t believe another law firm would pick up this “my” suit as it is so tainted. I want to know whats happened to all the David Stern cases? If another firm picks it up must they file a EX PARTI motion?

Today is a bad day for me so my optimism is at an all time low. While we have people like Thigpen, and there are others also doing their jobs trying to protect homeowners property rights, lots and lots of people still have the attitude about the homeowner could not pay their mortgage, so why would any of this matter. They cannot get over the fact people for one reason or another could not make their mortgage payments. The inevitable was going to happen anyway, so what if there was fraud involved, these deadbeat homeowners don’t deserve their houses. Once fraud is involved to deceive the legal system, then whether or not I paid my mortgage becomes irrelevant im my opinion.
The question remains, what is going to be done about this? Will the court system wake up to the fact that the deadbeat homeowners are still entitled to legal and fair treatment no matter what? Or will they still turn a blind eye? The homeowners are a lot smarter than they realized and since we decided to fight for our homes, the banks has to step up the fraud because they could not prove ownership. What about the deadbeat homeowners who already lost their homes to this type of fraud, what justice can they get?
Someone help me believe in our country that I so dearly love. Do we really have any hope for justice? God Bless Thigpen and the others who will not settle for this type of fraud.

God bless Jeff Thigpen, and we need more public servants like him. I am not a bit surprised that he is in the fine state of North Carolina; it is God’s country indeed. People there, for the most part, still understand things like honor, honesty, loyalty, and faithfulness to one’s duty.
If that small grouping of homeowners’ losses amount to so many millions, it boggles the mind to think of the total dollar value of losses that have been sustained all across this country in the past four years (and then some) due to fraudulent foreclosures.
And may all the guilty bankers and thieves join Bin Laden in hell one day to burn for eternity.
