Hi, this is Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway. I wanted to make sure you heard about an important issue.
The same Wall Street banks whose irresponsible actions led to our nation’s economic collapse are now pressuring all 50 states to give them legal immunity. The banks want to block any criminal or civil accountability for actions that have yet to be investigated.
Attorneys General from Delaware, Minnesota, Nevada, and New York have been fighting back. Today, I want to make a clear statement in support of Wall Street accountability and against immunity for banks — and I ask you to join me on this statement:
“Today’s economic crisis was caused by Wall Street acting improperly. Every American has paid the price — with families losing their homes, investors losing their money, and many Americans losing their jobs. There should be absolutely no criminal or civil immunity given to banks for activity that has not yet been investigated.”
Frankly, all elected leaders owe it to their constituents to take this position. If we speak up together, more and more of them will. Sign here.
Today, by adding my voice to this issue, along with the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, we are adding momentum to the fight for Wall Street accountability.
These next couple weeks are critical. Key meetings and discussions will determine if Wall Street banks get immunity — regardless of what they may or may not have done.

Like for example, the tricky attorney who claims he is working for you and he tells you that he HATES THE BANKS…. then just when he think he has you roped in, he hands you this tricky little contract which informs you, the “CLIENT” that you may have to sign: A WAIVER…… which states…
WAIVER: Some resulting agreements may require the Client TO WAIVE ANY FUTURE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST LENDER WITH RESPECT TO THE ORIGINAL MORTGAGE LOAN AND SUBSEQUENT MODIFICATION. CLIENT IS ENCOURAGED TO CONSULT WITH AN INDEPENDENT ATTORNEY REGARDING WAIVER OF THAT RIGHT IF AN AGREEMENT IS OFFERED WITH THIS LANGUAGE.
THE CONTRACT ALSO STATES:
COOPERATION: Client agrees to cooperate with ATTORNEY and AGENTS OF ATTORNEY to provide all information requested and neccessary to perform the HUD and/or FORECLOSURE litigation. Client acknowledges that without all the necessary information, the defense procedures may be compromised. Client agrees to promptly respond to phone calls, letters and emails and immediately inform ATTORNEY of changes in contact inflormation. If Client FAILS TO COMPLY, this may be a basis for ATTORNEY withdrawing from case through Motion in the Court….
ARBITRATION: The American Association of Arbitration shall arbitrate any and all disputes arising from this Agreement. All rules and regulations of the Association shall govern the arbitration process.
Who is the American Association of Arbitration? This is a disgrace! The judges are telling homeowers to hire attorneys or look into a free attorney….THERE ARE NO HONEST ATTORNEYS…..AT LEAST I HAVE NOT FOUND ONE…..THE FREE ATTORNEYS TREAT THE PEOPLE LIKE IT IS THE ROMAN INQUISITION……My brother in law called one of these after he was illegally evicted 2 years ago….The “free Attorney” talked to him like he was a criminal and hollered at him, YOU DON’T THINK YOU OWE A MORTGAGE???…my brother in law told him, but I have the deed!!…THE ATTORNEY TOLD HIM, THERE MUST BE SOME MISTAKE,..and told him to hire a private attorney.His friend is a real estate agent and told him if you have the DEED..STAMPED PAID, YOU OWN THE TOWNHO– USE…SO THEY WENT TO THE RECORDER OF DEEDS OFFICE AND …….BAM!!!…..Then, within one week, “SOMEONE” recorded a SHERIFF’S DEED ON HIS PUBLIC RECORDS AND ONE WEEK AFTER THAT…POOF!!!!. HIS PROPERTY RECORDS….DISAPEARED..FROM THE PUBLIC RECORDINGS……AND WERE FRAUDULENTLY AND ILLEGALY RECONVEYED TO A REAL ESTATE AGENT…!!!!. No one is protecting the Property Rights of We The People in the State of Illinois….AT ALL…..!!!!! THE DECEPTION IS CRIMINAL…..!!!
This man, my brother in law, never had a day in court….in a JUDICIAL STATE!!!!……AND WAS EVICTED BY THE SHERIFFS DEPT, VIA THE HOMEOWNERS ASS. FOR BEING BEHIND ON HOMEOWNERS ASS. FEES, NOT THE MORTGAGE.!. THIS IS AN UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND ILLEGAL TYRANNY!!!! Who would have believed this stuff could be happening to the citizens of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA……? Well it is happening everyday…I heard a Senator on MSNBSC say there have been 30 million foreclosures in American and no one is doing anything for the people……..no shit Sherlock….where have you been?
@ Ivent – we have the same thing in Florida. It’s called the SUPER LIEN LAW passed (I believe) back in April 2010). The HO’s were given an extrordinary amount of power over the people!!!!
I am a very small business. Never dreamed I would have over 100,000.00 dollars to invest in my very own show room. After signing the papers in Aug. or Sept., of 2006, the economy in my area shut down. My building appraised for 372,000. I only owed 173,000, on it the bank had it appraised and sold it for approximately 125,000.00 and placed a lien on me for the next 15 years, for the outstanding balance. I was under the impression they had collateral to cover the loan. I can understand having a foreclosure on my credit record from this. I have survived without filing bankruptcy and recovered from the worst economy crash in U.S. history. Is there anyone that knows of a way to get such a lien removed.
