I just received the below information announcing that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Federal Reserve System’s Board of Governors, and 14 US mortgage servicers are offering a free impartial Independent Foreclosure Review for eligible borrowers who believe they were financially injured as a result of servicer errors, misrepresentations, or other deficiencies in the foreclosure process.
To apply for a review, individuals may call 888-952-9105, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (ET), and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ET). Individuals can get more information about the review through a website set up by the servicers, www.IndependentForeclosureReview.com
In addition, the servicers will conduct an advertising campaign and send letters to borrowers who may be eligible to participate in the review to provide information.
Requests for review by the servicers’ independent consultants must be received by April 30, 2012. There are no costs associated with being included in the review.

I am so happy that I received the paperwork for someone to look into our foreclosure. We had been with GMAC for several years…never made a late payment. We started calling them in January of 2009 asking for some type of help because my husband pays had been cut 75% due to the economy. He had worked for an automotive dealership for 20+ years, making 6 figures. In February they told us to call back cause Pres. Obama was trying to put something in place for loan modifications. Called again in February, GMAC told us there was nothing they could do for us till we defaulted in our loan. In April of 2009, my husband lost his job and for the first time we absolutely had no means to pay our mortgage payment we had exhausted our LIFE savings of $60,000 trying to save our home and live over the last year. So again I contacted GMAC and they said to fill out a loan modification papers and they will get back to us. Well that took them over 5 months. With me continously calling them to follow-up as to when I was going to hear from someone. Now on un-employment and that literally begining our only source of income for a familyof four….we lived and sat back and had to watch everything we had worked so hard for vanish in front of our eyes. We received a very generic letter from GMAC stating that they reviewed out loan modification paperwork and due to insuffienct means of income they would NOT modify our loan. Again I called them and spoke to a few different people begging them to help us. Well now I have creditors contacting us for everything cars, credit cards and from GMAC regarding the mortgage. One man told me to put the house up for short sale and walk away. This was so devasting to us. All the hard work we had but into our home and the money we had in equity was gone and there was nothing we could do. We tried re submitting the loan modification paperwork three times. Even had a third party get involved to work with someone in their bankruptcy department and re-submitt our paperwork to them and we got NO response. We where forced to file chapter 7 bankruptcy to protect ourselves and lost everything. How could this be right? We have talked to so many people and their banks did modifications to help them. Our friend even got a 6 month extension on his mortgage and he didn’t have to make any payments they put them at the end of his loan and on top of that after the six months was up they lowered his payments again for him. So here we are now two years later and still struggling to make ends meet. My husband is still un-employed. We have 158.00 in food stamps a month for a family of four and our income of $2,100 from un-employment. We had to up root our kids to a new school, new town and now the home we are renting is for sale and we have to move again. With no money to relocate. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t DAMN GMAC because they would work with us to keep our home. How could this be possible? They never even gave us a chance.
