Palm Beach Gardens homeowner gets $18 million in foreclosure settlement
Palm Beach Gardens homeowner and foreclosure fighter Lynn Szymoniak is slated to get $18 million from the nationwide settlement with the country’s five largest banks that was filed in federal court Monday.
Szymoniak, who was featured on the CBS news show 60 Minutes last year for the work she did uncovering the robo-signing scandal, said this morning that her gain from the settlement seems “surreal.”
“I always tend to discount everything until it’s signed,” she said. “I knew it was part of the settlement in February, but not how much.”
Szymoniak’s settlement is part of a larger $95 million agreement reached with the banks and Bill Nettles, the U.S. District Attorney of South Carolina. That agreement is written into the $25 billion nationwide settlement between 40 state attorneys general and Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Ally Financial, Wells Fargo and Citigroup.

I would rather see Lynn and millions of Americans get the money then the banksters.. all of these settlements for fraud…..the banksters are handing out billions in taxpayer money and they are are still fraudclosing ..and what about the millions of Americans who have already lost their homes? That $95 billion dollar settlement with the Peoples money by the nations five largest banks stinks as CNN was reporting today..people are outraged…But even worse, WARREN BUFFET stated in an interview on CNBC last week that FANNIE MAE has already received $99 million dollars in taxpayer money …and Fox reported that very same week that FANNIE MAE… just asked for $4.5 Billion dollars more of the peoples money…… This Government is a complete outrage and they need to be stopped….The Federal Reserve needs to be shut down..and forced to pay back every dime of U.S. TAXPAYER money that they were ever lent by WE THE PEOPLE…and that stolen and plundered wealth needs to be given back to the American People and used to back and to issue our own currency…U.S. BANKNOTES… instead of right back into the pockets of the greedy politicians who allowed, and are still allowing… the biggest robbery of our wealth in history!
Well BULLY BULLY for you Lynn. I’m happy for your win but that settlement is no settlement at all. That money you are being awarded is going to come from TAX PAYER NOT THE BANKS! They have it all figured out folks. THE BANKS WILL PAY NOTHING IN THE END! How do you settle on FRAUD to MILLIONS OF PEOPLE? I hope Lynn you will use that money to continue the fight and help everyone to win. You could buy some political influence to turn the table for the rest of us. Start a Nation Wide Law Firm dedicated to go after these CROOKS that will help people that can’t afford legal council and get the finest. WE ALL NEED TO WIN LYNN OR IT’S NO WIN AT ALL! My congratulations to you for BATTLING THESE BASTARDS AND MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU! I hope you’ll continue to do the right thing. It is not your money, It is our money WE THE PEOPLE TOGETHER WE STAND.
Bloodsoaked, your right, it has always been my dream to beat these thieves than invest in other like cases. Maybe, hopefully this case will get more attorneys out fighting for homeowners. I have a case that a 1’st year Law Student would win and I have been trying to get an attorney for 3 years.
Congratulations, Lynn. I would not consider this an “award” or “settlement” but rather compensation for all of her hard work. No doubt her research and appearance on “60 Minutes” changed minds and saved homes.
Thank you and again, congratulations.
i am so happy for lynn. she deserves every penny.
her appearance on 60 minutes, her research and writing on behalf of homeowners who faced imminent eviction, has made a huge difference.
i hope that all of us will be able to collect what is due us.
THAT’S WHAT YOU CALL REAL JUSTICE YOU’LL NEVER SEE IT IN PASCO COUNTY, FLA.
THE INTERNAL AFFAIRS COVER-UP FOR ALL SOOOOO SAD.
Good for her. Now she can go buy a house and it will be FREE. And judges think giving FREE houses is such a shame on the courts.
You deserve it. Lynn.
Lynn:
My advise to you is to make sure you do a real thorough title search before you plunk down any money to buy a house!
I wonder how long it will be before title insurors will refuse to insure titles to real property any more? Once First American, et al, realize what’s been going on, this scenario might not be far-fetched at all!
It will interesting to follow her and see what she does with the settlement. After of course, she’s dealt
with the IRS!
