Tax the Rich: An animated fairy tale
Tax the rich: An animated fairy tale, is narrated by Ed Asner, with animation by Mike Konopacki. Written and directed by Fred Glass for the California Federation of Teachers. An 8 minute video about how we arrived at this moment of poorly funded public services and widening economic inequality. Things go downhill in a happy and prosperous land after the rich decide they don’t want to pay taxes anymore. They tell the people that there is no alternative, but the people aren’t so sure. This land bears a startling resemblance to our land.

While this cute cartoon has SOME valid points, it conveniently ignores the matter of pay, benefits, and pensions of the all powerful public “service” unions that are bankrupting our states, cities, and municipalities. The unions have not caused the crash, but their power and greed is right up there with the 1% and is contributing to our financial downfall. Having sent all of our manufacturing jobs overseas, the only thing left for the fat, bloated unions to do was take over the public service sector.
Is it true that in the last twenty years the top ten per cent of earners increased their share of the total value of America by enough to pay off the federal debt?
