‘Racist’ Businessweek cover triggers uproar
Bloomberg Businessweek editor Josh Tyrangiel has said the magazine “regrets” what critics have described as a “super-racist” cover on the latest issue.
“Our cover illustration last week got strong reactions, which we regret,” he said in a statement sent to Politico’s Dylan Byers and NBC Latino. ”Our intention was not to incite or offend. If we had to do it over again we’d do it differently.”
The cover seemed to depict ethnic minorities rollicking in cash from a rebounding housing market. The subtitle for the cover story asked the question, “What could possibly go wrong?”
“The cover stands out for its cast of black and Hispanic caricatures with exaggerated features reminiscent of early 20th century race cartoons. Also, because there are only people of color in it, grabbing greedily for cash,” wrote the Columbia Journalism Review’s Ryan Chittum. “It’s hard to imagine how this one made it through the editorial process.” However, another CJR post from Sara Morrison reports that the artist behind the drawing is Peru-born Andres Guzman.

Goofy .. unprofessional .. and alienating to minority readers. How dumb can they be?? Beyond belief, I guess .. when I saw the headline, I thought it was an Onion (satire) article .. unfortunately it really happened. They will lose some customers .. too bad.
I would think that people would be offended by the behavior of the bankers and Wall street not some stupid cartoon.Don’t we all have more important things to worry about than this addlepated crap.
This is so ridiculous! Someone out there is worried about a (cartoon) type cover on a magazine and every day more and more Americans are becoming homeless in a country where the court & legal system is a sham! I guess it did not bother the author, who is from the same ethnic background, so why should it bother anybody else? Really, really stupid!
No one could have more succinctly demonstrated the true meaning of where these corporate elitist facists are coming from, or what their values are than THIS cover. DISgusting.
And so the frat-boy mentality that defiles everything this country ever stood for goes on. Sure. It was an accident that they made a global magazine cover with WHAT ON IT ?!! The self same hollow apology of HSBC Bank: I’m sorry (but yesss! We sure got over on them THIS time.)
Sure takes all the wonder out of who’s, or should I say what’s, controlling MSM as the Fascist Coup rises and Rome is burned alive.
