Facing Foreclosure, Man Barricades Himself in Home, Standoff Ensued
A distraught man facing foreclosure barricaded himself in his home Thursday morning when Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived, causing a three-hour standoff.
The department acts as process servers, including handling eviction and foreclosure notifications.
Deputies from the Process Bureau went to the man’s home on the 4000 block of 45th Street at about 8 a.m. to ensure he had met the deadline to leave the property.
According to Sgt. Eric Klinkhammer, the deputies that work in the division had talked to the man before and were concerned he may refused to leave, so they brought three additional deputies from the county’s tactical response team along.
When they arrived, they found the man had barricaded the doors. After deputies spoke to him from outside, the man told them he was armed with a gun and reportedly made threats to the officers there as well as threats to his own life.
Rest here…
