Man Facing Foreclosure Drives Wrong Way on Interstate Causing Fiery Crash That Kills Five Teenagers
BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Latest on the suspect in the wrong-way crash that killed five high school students in Vermont (all times local):
9:40 a.m.
Court documents say a man suspected of driving the wrong way on a Vermont interstate and causing a fiery crash that killed five teenagers was facing foreclosure and was involved in legal proceedings around domestic and child custody issues.
The documents were filed in a court to support the charges of second-degree murder in the deaths of five teenagers. Their vehicle was struck by a pickup truck that police say was driven by Steven Bourgoin.
The 36-year-old Bourgoin is expected to be arraigned Friday during a court hearing held at the hospital where he is being treated for injuries he suffered in the crash.
Police say Bourgoin crashed into the teens’ car and then stole a police cruiser before crashing it into at least seven other vehicles Oct 8.
