“After making bail, Sabehgi said he was in too much pain to leave his cell. So he lay on the floor, seemingly ignored by authorities.”

Second Iraq War vet injured in Occupy Oakland clash with cops

The victim, now in intensive care, claims Oakland police beat his limbs with a baton

An Iraq war veteran is in intensive care with serious injuries after he says police beat him during the Occupy Oakland protests – the second Iraq vet to be seriously hurt during clashes near the camp.

Kayvan Sabehgi, 32, who also served in Afghanistan, said his troubles began when he encountered a group of cops near the encampment Wednesday.

“There was a group of police in front of me,” Sabehgi told The Guardian from his hospital bed. “They told me to move, but I was like: ‘Move to where?’ There was nowhere to move.

“Then they lined up in front of me. I was talking to one of them, saying ‘Why are you doing this?’ when one moved forward and hit me in my arm and legs and back with his baton. Then three or four cops tackled me and arrested me.”

Sabeghi said he was handcuffed and left to languish in a police van for three hours before cops took him to jail – instead of a hospital.
