Ask Florida State Senator, Chris Smith

STAND WITH THE PEOPLE, NOT THE BANKS!
(Un)Fair Foreclosure Bill (SB1890) is heading to the floor of the Senate and Chris Smith voted for it in committee. We need to remind him that he needs to stand with the people who elected him! This horrible bill favors the banks over people:
• Will speed up foreclosure process – In Palm Beach County court files, there are 10,794 final foreclosure judgments OVER A YEAR OLD and in almost every case the bank canceled the judge ordered sale and has not bothered to reset a new one.
• Puts burden of proof on homeowner (or previous homeowner… )
• No recognition that Banks and Mortgage Brokers are responsible for the fraudulent documents in sale of house! Ignoring the foreclosure fraud chain of title problems only dumps these problems on potential new buyers.

Please also call Senator Smith’s office (and others!) and let them know that this is a terrible bill that will ruin the lives of many Floridians who are just trying to keep a roof over their heads and make ends meet.
