From an Unlikely Source, a Serious Challenge to Wall Street
Something very interesting is happening.
There’s been so much corruption on Wall Street in recent years, and the federal government has appeared to be so deeply complicit in many of the problems, that many people have experienced something very like despair over the question of what to do about it all.
But there’s something brewing that looks like it might be a blueprint to effectively take on Wall Street: a plan to allow local governments to take on the problem of neighborhoods blighted by toxic home loans and foreclosures through the use of eminent domain. I can’t speak for how well the program will work, but it’s certaily been effective in scaring the hell out of Wall Street.
Under the proposal, towns would essentially be seizing and condemning the man-made mess resulting from the housing bubble. Cooked up by a small group of businessmen and ex-venture capitalists, the audacious idea falls under the category of “That’s so crazy, it just might work!” One of the plan’s originators described it to me as a “four-bank pool shot.”
Rest here…

Now that’s the best idea I’ve seen on this website in a year. I hope the local pols have the guts to stand up to their party bigwigs, i.e. Senators, Congressmen, President and Candidate. They will all have appoplexy.
What is this????
TTTT: Are U asking what is Eminent Domain? Bear in mind that each state has it’s own regulations regarding Eminent Domain. Here in Florida there are (supposed) protections for homeowner’s when a government agency takes a property via eminent domain so that the homeowner receives “just” compensation. However, also, there are several different avenues by which a government agency in Florida can seize a property. I don’t know how it works when there is a mortgage or a lien on the property and usually only applies to vacant or abandonded properties. Many state and other municipalities abused the eminent domain provisions (at least here in Florida) which led to tougher provisions and added protections for homeowners. i.e. when building freeways or throughways the state was using eminent domain when a homeowner was refusing to sell property for that purpose.
In order to make this type of procedure work on a nationwide scale it would have to have some pretty good backbone to it considering the impact it would have on any homeowner. After all, most of the ‘blight’ was caused by the banksters along with the failing economy, loss of jobs and failure to be able to sell property, loss of all equity on behalf of homeowners. I’m not sure that such governmental agencies would be able to sustain equitable payment to homeowners under such an eminent domain…most are nearly already bankrupt themselves! I don’t even know that it would have to come to a vote by the people but if not, we could all be in for a lot of harm!
