FEBRUARY 16, 2012 / NATIONAL FORECLOSURE AWARENESS DAY

Several Florida legislature bills, including HB 213 and the amended PCB, sponsored by Kathleen Passidomo backed by The Bankers Association, are attempting to make Florida a non-judicial state which would preclude homeowners from defending a foreclosure in order to “fast track” the foreclosure process, denying Floridians their day in court.

While other states like Nevada, Delaware and Massachusetts have begun investigating and prosecuting foreclosure fraud, some in the Florida legislature seem intent on speeding up the process, leaving homeowners displaced and often homeless. Close to 25% of children in Florida are living in motels and cars. Those fighting against the proposed bills feel this number will increase.

This bill has swept through committee after committee and at this momentum it will pass before anyone knows about it. Mortgage Justice, ForeclosureHamlet and 4closurefraud are joining with Awake the State, the Occupy movement, the Foreclosure Coalition and other groups from around Florida and nationally to bring awareness about illegal foreclosures and to stop the legislature from passing this bill.

The Rally will be held at the capital in Tallahassee on February 16, 2012! Rep. Scott Randolph, Rep. Darren Soto, attorney activist Matt Weidner, citizen activist Lisa Epstein and other nationally known speakers will be presenting vital, new information about the foreclosure situation and participants will be meeting with members of the legislature to support fairness for Floridians in the legislative process.

Citizens all across this state are under attack from a legislature and a legislative process that serves the interests of the banks to the detriment of homeowners and consumers, come make your voice heard! Legislators need to hear from consumers from every city in the state, who are impacted by the decisions that are currently being debated.

Come help us remind legislators that they should serve the citizens of the State of Florida and not the banks and special interests.

FREE buses will be traveling up both coasts of Florida picking up participants along the way.
